I know real estate agents are often referred to as salespeople, but in my continuous effort to gear my business toward my customers’ specific situations and needs, I consider myself more appropriately a home consultant.
I’m seeing buyers and sellers do much of their home research on the web and by the time they come to me they’re expecting me to guide them through the process. As a result, I make it a priority to stay on top of the market and technology changes so I can best counsel them when they’re ready.
Looking at today’s issues with Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, FHA, short sales and foreclosures, it’s no wonder buyers and sellers want (need) a knowledgeable professional for guidance. I’m working with one short sale customer who is five months behind on mortgage payments. We are preparing his home for the market and he is strapped for cash, so I’m assisting him with the expense of needed pool chemicals to bring it up to par for showings. Whatever it takes, right?
Although our current economy is unstable, I know from my experience things will get better—they always do. And there’s no doubt that in my providing good personalized service as a home consultant, I have been successful in making it through the past and now present soft market.
