Memorial Day Events in Winter Park and Orlando

Today is a day of remembrance for all the men and women who have died while serving as part of the United States Armed Forces. Below is a list of ceremonies and services around Winter Park and Orlando honoring these brave Americans.

Memorial Day Service: 11 a.m. Monday; Glen Haven Memorial Park, 2300 Temple Drive, Winter Park. Guest speakers, Winter Springs High School Army JROTC and music by VFW Post No. 2093 Community Band. Details: 407-647-1100.

Memorial Day Ceremony: 10 a.m. Monday; Greenwood Cemetery, 1603 Greenwood St., Orlando. Presented by American Legion Post 19 and Ladies Auxiliary. Guest speaker, wreath laying and taps. Details: 407-453-5695.

Memorial Day Service: 8:30 a.m. Monday; Veterans Park, 420 S. Park Ave., Winter Garden. West Orange High School Junior ROTC with roll call of veterans, placement of wreaths and patriotic songs.

Memorial Day Ceremony: 8:30 a.m. Monday; Osceola Memory Gardens, 1717 Old Boggy Creek Road, Kissimmee. Presented by Osceola County Veterans Council and other groups. Details: 407-957-2511.

Memorial Day Service: 10 a.m. Monday; Woodlawn Memorial Park, 400 Woodlawn Cemetery Road, Gotha. Music by Orlando Concert Band at 9:30 a.m., memorial roll call, placing of wreaths, flyover during National Anthem and tolling of replica Liberty Bell in memory of the dead of all wars. Parade and Remembrance Ceremony: 10 a.m. Monday; 1st Street, downtown Sanford. Ceremony at 11 a.m. at Veterans Memorial Park on RiverWalk, Tuskegee Airmen, helicopter flyover and 21-gun salute. Details: 407-688-5120.

Orange County War Memorial Rededication Ceremony: 10-11 a.m. Monday; Orange County Courthouse Administration Building, 425 N. Orange Ave., Orlando. Mayor Teresa Jacobs and Orange County Veterans Advisory Board will honor memory of two fallen local soldiers: Pfc. Alberto L. Obod and Pfc. Jalfred D. Vaquerano.

Memorial Day Ceremony: 11 a.m. Monday; American Legion Post 10, 200 Lakeshore Blvd., Kissimmee. Details: 407-847-4193.

Memorial Day Flagpole Ceremony: 3 p.m. Monday; Casselberry Veterans Club, 200 Concord Drive, Casselberry. Barbecue meal available for purchase until 6 p.m. Details: 407-340-9780.
